The easiest way to find bison’s location is by accessing your world map. You’ll encounter the bison fairly early in the game when you complete the hunting mission available in your camp. Locate the bison icon on the map, which will be unlocked in a hunting mission with Charles.

However, there seems to be a glitch that a lot of players are experiencing where bison is not at the said location. The two main locations mentioned above are where the bison are usually found roaming.

Find a Three-Star Bison

Survey the herd either with a scoped rifle or binoculars. Not all animals are ranked 3-stars. So make sure you identify the target before taking the shot.

Keep the Pelt Quality Intact

For a large animal like the bison, you’ll need a rifle such as Carcano Rifle or a Sniper Rifle and equip High Velocity Ammo or Express Ammo. This combination is perhaps one of the most effective hunting weapons that’ll guarantee perfect pelts for big animals.

Once you’ve identified your target, aim at the head and take the shot. Use the Dead Eye ability to guarantee higher chances of success.
