It’s hunting time again! And this time we’re looking for one of the big games available in Red Dead Redemption 2, the bison!
Chances are you are hunting a bison to get a perfect pelt and complete the Provisions Satchel upgrade in RDR2. Hunting is a fairly easy affair, if you know what you’re doing. The 3 things you need to figure out are location, weapons and hunting strategies. Figure out these 3 components, and you’ll be scoring perfect pelts every time. Let the bison hunting begin!
RDR2 Bison Location
The easiest way to find bison’s location is by accessing your world map. You’ll encounter the bison fairly early in the game when you complete the hunting mission available in your camp. Locate the bison icon on the map, which will be unlocked in a hunting mission with Charles.
Other Locations
However, there seems to be a glitch that a lot of players are experiencing where bison is not at the said location. There are two main locations where you can find bison, and they are:
- Heartland Overflow
- Twin Stack Pass
Your best bet would be Heartland Overflow.
How to Get a Perfect Bison Pelt
Survey the herd with a scoped rifle such as Carcano Rifle or a Sniper Rifle and equip High Velocity Ammo or Express Ammo. This combination is perhaps one of the most effective hunting weapons that’ll guarantee perfect pelts for big animals. Not all bisons have a perfect rating pelt, so pick your target out before shooting.
Once you’ve identified your target, aim at the head and take the shot. Use the Dead Eye ability to guarantee higher chances of success.
Collect the pelt from the downed bison and other parts. And there you have it! We’ve covered bison’s location in RDR2, the use of the bison skin for upgrades and alternative bison hunting locations.
Happy hunting!
