How To Split Resource Stacks in Valheim

Greetings, Viking! So you’re on your way to build your empire in this foreign land. Well, you’re going to need a lot of resources. Whether you’re playing alone or with a party, like I am, you’re going to need help. By the way, check out my review for Valheim in this article. Oh yes, splitting your stacks!

You’ll quickly notice that the slots available in your personal inventory will quickly run out as you start finding more and more unique resources. You’ll also find the need of having more space to store your resources. Stop throwing items around the world just because you don’t have space.

You are limited to only 8 hot bar slots and 24 individual spaces. These individual spaces also store any clothing, weapons or tools that you have equipped for your character. Now we have a real problem of having pure carrying slots for resources.

You only need a couple of survival resources when you go out for exploration. Food, wood, stone, resin, arrows and different weapons would be enough. The rest you could keep at home in chests, so you can free up space for new items or resources you’ll find along the way.

Split Stacks of Items in Valheim

  1. To split stacks of an item, all you have to do is click on Tab to access your inventory.
  2. Hold down Shift and click on the item that you would like to split.
  3. Slide the cursor and adjust it to the required quantity. You can see the number of items in the split.
  4. Once you’ve set the amount, click on OK to confirm the split.
  5. Your stack is now split and is loaded to your pointer. Click on an empty slot to put the new stack. You can also do this when splitting stack from your inventory into your chest slots.
  6. You can also move stacks between inventory and storage by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking on the stack that you would like to move.
Valheim split stack easily.

And that’s about it. Build chests around your base camp or your outposts to keep yourself stocked up on resources to help in your journey to conquer the lands beyond Midgard. If you’re a new player, check out this article for hot tips to start of your Valheim journey with the right boot.
