[SPOILERS AHEAD]
The Moon Knight Disney+ series has finally come to an end. Episode six of the series marks the finale of the Moon Knight. But as we tuned in for the last episode, along with probably every other fan of the show, there were some moments in the show that felt a bit off. These moments seem to break the flow of the final episode, which seems uncharacteristic for a big budget production such as Moon Knight.
The entire vibe of the final episode felt like it was rushing to the finish line. Obvious cuts were made in between that made the watching episode a little glaring. While we thought we’re just imagining it, the director of the show, [name] has confirmed on a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter that a scene was removed from the final episode. As great as everything else was, [Oscar] actually topped it with something even better. He confronted his mom in a white void, and he was going back and forth between Marc and Steven. And oh, my god. That scene by itself is an Oscar-worthy performance. Hopefully, Marvel releases that scene one day because Oscar was a genius.

Khonshu vs Ammit Final Showdown
It’s cool to finally see Ammit’s full form. And an anthropomorphic crocodile with dreadlocks? Very cool. While the escalation of the two gods into battle was exciting, there wasn’t much destruction around them. Two gods just appeared right outside the pyramids and nothing really got destroyed, apart from some souls getting sucked earlier by Ammit. And their avatars were also duking it out in the streets. There are definitely cool moments, but the overall sequence felt like it was missing something.
Theories on What Happened
This might have something to do with Disney’s recent decision of changing the Moon Knight’s series original run time. The show was supposed to be a limited series with a total of 6 episodes. However, in a recent deleted tweet by the Disney, one key thing they’ve changed in their tweet is changing “series finale” to “season finale”. This gives us the impression that Disney reconsidered and perhaps with quite a large following, and decided to go with another season. This would explain a lot of the cuts that happened in the final episode. Check out the article covering the tweet here.
But do note that there is no official announcement in regard to a Season 2 of Moon Knight by Disney or from any of the people who’re part of the project.
Is Moon Knight a Good Show?
Moon Knight does everything differently as compared to the typical Marvel formula for series and movies. They’ve employed the unreliable narrator, where the audience does not really know what is real and what is not for at least half of the show as the character shows some sort mental illness. Steven Grant was thought to be the main character, but turned out to be one of the personalities inhibiting the original body.
The show also dives deeply into Egyptian lore and myth. Moon Knight introduces the Ennead (Egyptian group of deities) and also takes place in Egypt for most of the series. Explore the great pyramids and dive deeper into rituals and creatures associated with Egyptian folklore. We’re not going to lie, we’re hoping for a homage paid to Imhotep (The Mummy).
The Moon Knight series takes a lot of material from the comics, but it has made some changes in how the characters were depicted throughout the show. So if you’re a hardcore Moon Knight comic reader, this changes might be a bit jarring.
Overall, I would highly recommend watching Moon Knight as it is definitely a new, or at least a different viewing experience. The show expands the great Marvel universe, bringing in new realms into the fold, thus setting up the stage to bring on more characters in the future.
